22:16The 2009 Bridport Prize Competition
The Bridport Prize is the richest open writing competition in English language -- with 5000 GBP first prize for a short story (of up to 5000 words); and 5000 GBP first prize for a poem (of up to 42 lines).
The Competition is open to anyone, including non-UK entrants, over 16 years old. Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, self-published, published on any website or broadcast, nor winning or placed in any other competition.
With categories in both short stories, judged by Ali Smith, and poetry, judged by Jackie Kay, hobbyists and ambitious young writers have plenty of scope for success.
The closing date for entry is 30 June 2009. For more information go to www.bridportprize.org.uk.
